Burnout Syndrome has become an increasing problem among medical students, especially in academic contexts marked by overload and high competitiveness. This study aimed to analyze the social representations of burnout among medical students. Grounded in Social Representations Theory and Central Core Theory, this research adopts a quali-quantitative approach, conducted with a sample of 100 students, using a structured questionnaire, the free evocation technique, and lexical analysis through the EVOC software. The results showed that the elements “fatigue,” “stress,” “exhaustion,” and “burnout” compose the central core of the representation, while anxiety, irritability, lack of support, and emotional fragility emerge as peripheral elements. The representations point to the naturalization of emotional suffering within the academic environment, revealing a process of silent resistance in the face of exhaustion. It is concluded that understanding these representations is essential to support institutional strategies for reception, prevention, and the promotion of mental health among medical students.
