The objective of this research is to conduct an epidemiological analysis of cervical cancer cases among women in the state of Paraná in 2024, based on data related to age group, sex, educational level, region, and other aspects. Cervical cancer, also known as cervical carcinoma, is a type of malignant neoplasm generally caused by persistent infection with the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). Among its main characteristics are its high transmissibility, the serious associated risks—such as the development of cancer of the vagina, vulva, throat, anus, among others—and the fact that many infections are asymptomatic. However, prevention is possible, especially through the use of condoms and HPV vaccination. This study is quantitative, descriptive, and retrospective in nature, based on secondary data obtained from public health information systems, such as DATASUS and the National Cancer Institute (INCA). It was observed that, of the 6,172 deaths from malignant neoplasms recorded in Paraná, 191 (3.1%) were due to malignant neoplasm of the cervix. The analysis of cervical lesions revealed a predominance of low-grade histological alterations, such as CIN I and CIN II, which present a high potential for regression when identified early, reinforcing the importance of regular screening for effective management and prevention of progression to more advanced stages of the disease. Therefore, it is emphasized that this is a topic of great relevance to public health, whose understanding is essential for the implementation of prevention, control, and population awareness strategies.
