Introduction: The use of electronic cigarettes, or vapes, has grown exponentially among young people, who are attracted by their flavors and the false perception of safety. Although initially promoted as an alternative for smoking cessation, the lack of regulation has turned these devices into a gateway to nicotine addiction and other toxic substances. The increase in associated diseases, such as EVALI (e-cigarette or vaping product use-associated lung injury), highlights a serious public health problem. In this context, raising awareness among the adolescent population becomes an essential preventive measure. Objectives: To report the experience of a health education initiative aimed at raising awareness among first-year high school students at a public school in Marília-SP. The intervention sought to inform about the risks and consequences associated with the use of electronic cigarettes, alcohol, and other drugs of abuse, promoting a space for dialogue and reflection for making healthier decisions. Method: This is an experience report conducted by medical and nursing students. The methodology employed was active and participatory, combining an interactive stage with a "true or false" quiz to engage students in groups, and an expository stage. In this second part, slides were presented with visual resources, scientific data, and impactful news images about the composition of vapes and the pathologies resulting from their use. The playful approach was planned to facilitate learning and stimulate the students' interest. Results: The health education initiative achieved its objective, effectively raising awareness among adolescents. Experience has shown that interventions tailored to young people are powerful tools in preventing harm and demystifying e-cigarettes. Conclusion: Partnerships between universities, healthcare facilities, and schools are crucial for providing young people with scientific information, enabling them to make more informed and healthy choices for their future.
