This study aimed to analyze the challenges and communication strategies between the multidisciplinary team and families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), highlighting their importance for humanizing and comprehensive care. This is an integrative literature review, covering articles published between 2019 and 2025 in the SCIELO, LILACS, and BDENF databases, which addressed communication practices and interventions aimed at strengthening the bond between professionals and families. The results indicate that barriers such as work overload, fragmented interprofessional communication, institutional limitations, and emotional factors can compromise dialogue, generating insecurity and anxiety in families. On the other hand, strategies such as regular family meetings, training in empathic communication, flexible parental visits, and psychological support demonstrate effectiveness in promoting trust, adherence to therapeutic approaches, and strengthening family bonds. The conclusion is that humanized communication constitutes an indispensable pillar of neonatal care, positively impacting both the family's emotional well-being and the quality of care provided to the newborn.
