Bleeding control represents one of the main challenges in oral surgery, especially in patients with systemic disorders or those taking anticoagulants. Tranexamic acid, an antifibrinolytic agent, has been identified as an efficient and safe alternative for reducing postoperative bleeding complications. This narrative review aims to gather and discuss the scientific evidence related to the use of tranexamic acid in surgical dental procedures, addressing its mechanisms of action, administration methods, benefits, and limitations. The literature indicates that topical application, whether through mouthwashes or compresses, presents promising results in hemostatic control, constituting an especially useful adjuvant resource in high-risk patients. We conclude that incorporating tranexamic acid into dental protocols can significantly contribute to clinical safety, although larger, long-term research is needed.Downloads
