Abstract
Freud's psychoanalysis revolutionized the scientific beliefs of the century by establishing a specific and unique understanding of the motives of the human subject. Freud suggested that the human mind is divided between Id, Ego, and Superego; where the Id creates demands, the Ego adds the needs of reality, and the Superego incorporates morality into action. Therefore, the question governing the research is "What is Freud's theory of the human mind?" In seeking to answer this question, the research's main objective is to discuss the mind according to Sigmund Freud's theory in the social context. The specific objectives are to understand psychoanalysis in its general context, discuss the possibility of an explanation of consciousness, according to Freud, and understand the importance of studying the mind. Through a literature review, it was concluded that Freud's influence on various fields of science, art, and philosophy was enormous. Thus, several concepts developed by Freud served various branches of psychology, and also the social body, which enabled the advancement of this science that is much more than a simple complement to psychiatry, it is a major analysis for the medical specialty.
