Abstract
Fibromyalgia is a chronic syndrome characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, persistent fatigue, and heightened sensitivity. Its pathophysiology involves central nervous system dysfunction, with genetic, environmental, and psychological influences. Managing fibromyalgia requires a multidisciplinary approach, incorporating pharmacological treatments like antidepressants and anticonvulsants, along with non-pharmacological interventions such as physical exercise and cognitive-behavioral therapy. Complementary therapies, including acupuncture and mindfulness, have also shown efficacy in symptom relief. Management must be personalized, focusing on individual patient needs and enhancing quality of life. Integrated and holistic strategies are crucial for treatment success, emphasizing the importance of addressing both the pain and the emotional and psychological aspects of the syndrome.
