A REABILITAÇÃO ORAL POR MEIO DE OVERDENTURE MANDIBULAR: RELATO DE CASO

Introdução: O avanço da odontologia reabilitadora no que diz respeito ao desenvolvimento de métodos alternativos aos tratamentos reabilitadores convencionais para pacientes edêntulos totais, associado a melhor aceitação a tratamentos com implantes dentários, permitiu que a utilização de próteses implanto-retidas e implanto-suportadas se mostrassem como opções de tratamento mais eficazes por apresentarem resultados positivos do ponto de vista biomecânico e estético, assim contribuindo para o bem estar físico e mental do paciente. Relato de caso: Paciente do gênero feminino procurou atendimento no Instituto Odontológico das Américas (IOA) com o desejo de realizar a troca de uma prótese total inferior retida por dois implantes, do tipo overdenture. Objetivo: Relatar um caso clínico de reabilitação com overdenture sobre dois implantes mandibulares em região de mento. Discussão: Embora muito eficazes, as próteses totais fixas e implanto-retidas e implanto-suportadas necessitam de confecção mais demorada e delicada possuindo também uma técnica mais invasiva, além de elevado custo, com isso a overdenture pode ser considerada um método alternativo a tais situações. Conclusão: Foi possível observar que a utilização de implantes osseointegrados associados a prótese total tem sido uma alternativa bem sucedida ao que se diz respeito a reabilitação protética de pacientes edêntulos totais, tendo resultados vantajosos em relação à reabilitação convencional.
