Integração entre Cirurgia da Mão e Reumatologia na Artrite Reumatoide: Diagnóstico por Imagem e Tratamento

Embora os avanços no tratamento clínico da artrite reumatoide (AR) tenham diminuído a necessidade de intervenções cirúrgicas, muitos pacientes ainda desenvolvem deformidades incapacitantes nas mãos, afetando significativamente sua qualidade de vida. O artigo explora a falta de consenso sobre o momento adequado para a intervenção cirúrgica, destacando as divergências existentes entre reumatologistas e cirurgiões de mão. Reumatologistas, em geral, tendem a postergar o encaminhamento para avaliação cirúrgica, priorizando o manejo clínico prolongado. Por outro lado, cirurgiões defendem que a realização de cirurgia em estágios mais precoces pode preservar a funcionalidade articular, prevenir deformidades mais graves e melhorar a qualidade de vida dos pacientes. A comunicação insuficiente entre essas especialidades dificulta a tomada de decisão e pode atrasar intervenções potencialmente benéficas. O artigo ressalta a necessidade de mais estudos e de uma abordagem interdisciplinar para aprimorar os desfechos clínicos e oferecer um cuidado mais eficiente aos pacientes com AR.
