HISTÓRIA E PERSPECTIVAS GLOBAIS DA ESTOMATOLOGIA E PATOLOGIA ORAL COMO CAMPO CIENTÍFICO: DIREÇÕES FUTURAS COM INTEGRAÇÃO INTERDISCIPLINAR

Introdução: A Estomatologia e a Patologia Oral evoluíram de áreas de suporte clínico para campos científicos complexos, impulsionados por associações internacionais e inovações tecnológicas. Objetivo: Analisar a trajetória histórica e as perspectivas globais dessas áreas, destacando a integração interdisciplinar e a incorporação da Inteligência Artificial (IA) no diagnóstico e manejo das doenças bucais. Metodologia: Revisão de literatura qualitativa e descritiva realizada nas bases PubMed, Google Scholar, ScienceDirect e SciELO, com recorte temporal entre 2021 e 2026. Foram selecionados estudos focados em evolução histórica, epidemiologia de lesões orais e avanços em IA e patologia digital. Resultados: A literatura evidencia que a IA apresenta elevada precisão na detecção de desordens potencialmente malignas, atuando como suporte à decisão clínica. Observa-se um fortalecimento das redes internacionais de pesquisa e uma transição para a patologia digital, embora desafios éticos e de padronização persistam. Considerações Finais: O futuro das especialidades reside na multimodalidade diagnóstica e na colaboração entre odontologia, bioinformática e ciência de dados. A integração tecnológica é essencial para otimizar o diagnóstico precoce e a saúde bucal global.
