Abstract

Teeth that present an extensive coronal loss, and are submitted to endodontic treatment, often displayed from the installation of intraradicular retainers, these can be made of fiberglass, carbon or metal. When the tooth needs to undergo a reintervention, the presence of intraradicular retainers becomes an obstacle, due to the complexity of their removal. The objective of this work is to describe an endodontic intervention preceded by the removal of a fiberglass post using a 3D guide. It can be concluded that a method to be considered safe and effective in the removal of root retainers must be simple, easy to perform and offer a low risk of fractures and perforations and minimal removal of tooth structure. Thus, removing the post using a 3D endodontic guide has shown to have several advantages, such as predictability, as it allows determining the direction and maximum length that the drill is capable of going, limiting the risk of perforations and root canal deviations, in addition to being simple, and can be operated by any qualified professional, even if he has no previous experience.
