Abstract

During the healing of a tooth socket, dimensional changes occur in the alveolar ridge. Therefore, the preservation of the alveolar ridge after extraction has become one of the biggest concerns in current dentistry. The alveolar process is dependent on the tooth, and its architecture is guided by the morphology of the teeth, so when a tooth is extracted, the process of bone remodeling and modeling occurs. In order to preserve alveolar bone volume, several researchers recommend regenerative procedures after tooth extraction using biomaterials and/or membranes. In order to control this situation, numerous methods have been used, ranging from the immediate installation of implants associated with biomaterials such as filling the fresh socket with biomaterials and membranes for bone regeneration. The present study aims to carry out a literature review on alveolar bone preservation for subsequent rehabilitation with dental implants.
