TENDÊNCIA TEMPORAL E CARACTERIZAÇÃO EPIDEMIOLÓGICA DAS CIRURGIAS DE RECONSTRUÇÃO OSTEOPLÁSTICA DO QUADRIL NO SUDESTE DO BRASIL, ENTRE 2019 E 2025.

Hip osteoplastic reconstruction surgeries represent an important therapeutic option for the treatment of deformities, degenerative diseases, and traumatic sequelae affecting the hip joint, contributing to joint preservation, functional improvement, and enhanced quality of life. This study aimed to analyze the temporal trend and characterize the epidemiological profile of these procedures performed in Southeastern Brazil between 2019 and 2025. This was a cross-sectional, retrospective, descriptive epidemiological study with a quantitative approach, based on secondary data obtained from the Hospital Information System of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SIH/SUS), available through DATASUS. The variables analyzed included state, year of procedure, number of hospitalizations, average length of hospital stay, hospital costs, and in-hospital deaths. During the study period, 656 hospitalizations were recorded, with a marked reduction in 2020, likely associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, followed by a progressive recovery until 2023, when the highest number of procedures (150) was observed. Minas Gerais accounted for the largest number of surgeries (215), followed by São Paulo (152), Rio de Janeiro (145), and Espírito Santo (144). The mean hospital stay was 3.5 days, while total hospitalization costs reached R$ 1,005,885.79. Only five in-hospital deaths were recorded throughout the study period, indicating a low mortality rate associated with the procedure. In conclusion, hip osteoplastic reconstruction surgeries showed a temporal pattern influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic, followed by a recovery in healthcare service provision. Furthermore, the low mortality rate and short hospital stay reinforce the safety of the procedure and highlight the importance of epidemiological surveillance to support the planning of specialized orthopedic care and optimize resource allocation within the Brazilian Unified Health System.
