Sepsis is a dysregulated bodily response to infection, leading to organ dysfunction and high mortality, particularly in Brazil. It may occur without detectable microorganisms in the blood and can cause dysfunction in distant organs, with respiratory infections being the most common. Tools such as qSOFA, SOFA, and NEWS are used to assess sepsis severity and guide early intervention. This study analyzed the epidemiological profile of sepsis patients in intensive care units (ICUs), identifying key comorbidities and their association with clinical outcomes and mortality. Medical records of ICU patients, with or without comorbidities, were reviewed to evaluate length of stay, outcomes, and sepsis severity. Metabolic and cardiovascular comorbidities were linked to poorer outcomes, supporting literature associating immune and hemodynamic dysfunctions with worse progression. Additional comorbidities, including systemic hypertension and COPD, also contributed to increased mortality, highlighting the cumulative impact of chronic diseases
