Abstract

A 22-year-old patient was referred to an endodontist for endodontic retreatment of tooth 11. Clinically, the patient presented with symptoms, and radiographically, inadequate root canal obturation (under-obturation) and slight periapical bone radiotranspension were observed. After local infiltrative anesthesia, absolute isolation and coronal opening were performed. Obturation was removed using ProDesign Logic RT #30/10 and #25/08 rotary instruments. Root canal re-preparation was performed with a #R50 reciprocating instrument. Subsequently, an irrigation protocol activated with the Easy Clean plastic file was instituted. Root canal obturation was performed using the single cone technique associated with Bio-C Sealer bioceramic endodontic cement. Clinical and radiographic follow-up was performed 12 months after the completion of the retreatment. It is concluded that conservative endodontic retreatment determined the success of endodontic therapy, since there was repair of periapical bone radiolucency 2 years after therapy.
