FATORES DE RISCO ERGONÔMICOS ASSOCIADOS À PREVALÊNCIA DE DISFUNÇÕES MUSCULOESQUELÉTICAS EM TRABALHADORES DA LIMPEZA: uma revisão integrativa

Abstract

Introduction: Cleaning workers constitute a professional category marked by low social visibility and frequently exposed to ergonomic factors capable of triggering musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) due to the physical overload present in their work activities. Objectives: In light of this, the study aimed to identify the relationship between ergonomic risk factors and the onset of musculoskeletal pathologies in cleaning professionals. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review, conducted in the databases Google Scholar, Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), and PubMed. Articles published between the years 2020 and 2025, available in full for free, in Portuguese and English, and related to the proposed theme, were included. After the analysis, nine studies were selected to compose the research. Results: A predominance of females among cleaning workers was observed, along with the presence of ergonomic factors such as repetitive movements, excessive physical effort, inadequate postures, and prolonged standing. A higher prevalence of MSD was observed in the lumbar region, upper limbs, lower limbs, and shoulders, areas subjected to high biomechanical overload. Moreover, strategies such as workplace exercise, auriculotherapy, and ergonomic education have shown positive effects in reducing pain, improving quality of life, and enhancing occupational performance. Conclusion: It is concluded that the ergonomic factors present in work environments favor the development of MSDs in cleaning workers, highlighting the need for research focused on this population in order to promote greater visibility and professional recognition.
