Objective: To critically analyze, through a literature review, the effectiveness and applicability of semi-direct composite resin restorations for posterior teeth, highlighting their indications, advantages, and limitations. Methods: This is an integrative review with searches in PubMed, SciELO, and Google Scholar databases, using the descriptors "Composite Resins", "Semidirect Restoration", and "Posterior Teeth", with a timeframe from 2002 to 2026. Results: The literature indicates that the semi-direct technique offers better marginal adaptation and reduction of polymerization stress compared to direct techniques, in addition to presenting reduced cost and shorter clinical time compared to indirect ceramic restorations. However, the technique requires a rigorous adhesive protocol and presents greater wear over time when compared to ceramics. Conclusion: Semi-direct restorations represent a viable and predictable alternative, acting as an effective intermediate option for the rehabilitation of posterior teeth with significant structural loss. Keywords: Composite Resins, Posterior Teeth,Semidirect Restoration.
