Introduction: Self-esteem is a psychological construct related to an individual's perception of themselves and is influenced by emotional, social, and cultural factors. In recent years, the demand for minimally invasive aesthetic procedures has increased significantly, particularly in the field of facial harmonization, which comprises techniques aimed at improving facial balance and rejuvenation. These procedures are frequently sought by patients who wish to enhance facial appearance, increase self-confidence, and achieve greater satisfaction with their self-image. Objective: To conduct a literature review on the impacts of facial harmonization procedures on patients’ self-esteem. Methods: This study consists of a literature review carried out through electronic searches in the SciELO, BIREME, PubMed, and Google Scholar databases. The following keywords were used: Self Image, Botulinum Toxins Type A, Hyaluronic Acid, Dermal Fillers, and Self Concept. Studies published between 2003 and 2024 in Portuguese or English that investigated the relationship between facial harmonization procedures and aspects related to self-esteem, satisfaction with appearance, or quality of life were included. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria and analyzing the full texts, 10 studies were selected for this review. Results: The analyzed studies evaluated different facial aesthetic procedures, including botulinum toxin injections, hyaluronic acid fillers, facial suspension threads, and collagen biostimulators. Overall, the results demonstrated high levels of patient satisfaction, with frequent reports of improved perception of facial appearance, increased self-confidence, and greater personal satisfaction. However, most studies relied on subjective patient evaluations, with limited use of standardized instruments to measure self-esteem. Conclusion: Facial harmonization procedures appear to be associated with improved self-image perception and satisfaction with facial appearance. Nevertheless, self-esteem is a multifactorial and complex phenomenon, and further studies with more robust methodological designs and standardized assessment tools are needed to better understand the effects of these procedures on self-esteem.
