Abstract

In summary, the present study was designed with general and specific objectives, the most notable being: the general objective of analyzing the epidemiological aspects of hypertension in the Army Clinic; and the specific objectives of characterizing the sample considering the variables: age, sex, occupation, and educational level; identifying a family history of hypertension and dietary salt consumption; determining habits related to alcoholism, smoking, and sedentary lifestyle; and classifying the sample according to body mass index. Regarding the methodological approach, a descriptive, retrospective, and cross-sectional study was chosen. This method was combined with a quantitative research paradigm to describe the phenomena studied and quantify the results statistically. A sample of 300 files was used for the research. The study is divided into three sections: the theoretical framework, methodological aspects, and finally, the discussion of the results obtained. Regarding the study's conclusion, the objectives proposed in our study were generally achieved, as we concluded that: Among 300 cases of patients with hypertension studied, which statistically corresponds to 100%, 63% are male. Concerning the age variable in the studied cases, the majority of our sample (28%) corresponds to the age range of 48 to 57 years. Regarding educational level, the research showed a relationship between the level of education and hypertension, with 50% having completed basic education. Other relevant data for the conclusion and results regarding patients who consume alcohol and their family history were observed. Among alcohol consumers, 77% live with hypertension and 23% do not consume alcohol. 57% have a family history of hypertension, while 43% do not.
