The present article aims to conduct a literature review on the use of aspirin for the prevention of preeclampsia. Preeclampsia is a multisystem condition that manifests after the 20th week of pregnancy with elevated blood pressure and proteinuria in women with no prior history of hypertension. Google Scholar and the CAPES journal were used as search engines, using the terms "aspirin," "pre-eclampsia," and "prevention" between the years 2018 to 2023. The results demonstrate that aspirin is effective in preventing preterm preeclampsia in high-risk women but does not show efficacy in women with pre-existing cardiovascular diseases. The medication should be administered in doses above 100 mg at night for better treatment effectiveness.
