The Covid-19 pandemic caused changes in people’s lives, mainly due to the need to maintain social distancing, with repercussions on the population’s food consumption, which may have contributed, among other factors, to the increase in overweight among school-aged children in recent years, as data point out. In view of the importance of food for maintaining an adequate weight, this study aimed to analyze the food consumption of brazilian school-aged children during the last few years, including the pandemic period. For this, food consumption data of children aged 5 to 9 years, between the years 2019 and 2022, were analyzed through reports from the Food and Nutritional Surveillance System (SISVAN). The results show some variations in food consumption, but with emphasis on the high consumption of ultra-processed foods throughout the analyzed period. It is concluded that the pandemic may have interfered both positively and negatively with food, and food and nutrition education actions from childhood are essential.
