Abstract

ABSTRACT

Alveolar ridge defects represent a significant challenge to the installation of dental prostheses, with post-extraction bone resorption being one of the main causing factors of said defects. The horizontal bone regeneration of the region becomes, as such, essential to allow a patient’s rehabilitation with dental implants, in a way of obtaining a satisfactory result after prosthetic rehabilitation. A point is made, furthermore, of retelling a therapeutic approach driven around the bone regeneration in a 49 year-old female patient, suffering of a maxillary bone defect due to dental extraction, by way of application of the screw-in-tent technique associated with the use of particulate bone graft (Bio-Oss) and absorbable bio-membranes. After the procedure, a period of 8 months of healing was determined and respected, followed by the installation of 3 implants through a guided surgery protocol. In light of this, the bone regeneration was deemed satisfactory, making the procedural aspects of the dental implants safer and predictable, later configuring a successful prosthetic rehabilitation. This leads to the conclusion that the screw-in-tent technique, in association with guided surgery, configures an effective alternative for horizontal bone grafting and enabling osseointegrated implants in cases of significant bone tissue loss.
