Adolescent Pregnancy: A Quali-Quantitative Study in the Municipality of Cascavel, PR

This article focuses on the analysis of social, security, and health indicators related to births among adolescent mothers in Cascavel, Paraná, a multidisciplinary issue that affects individuals’ lives in a broad and comprehensive manner. Data were collected from SINASC, SINAN, and Sesp-PR. A decline in birth rates was observed: volatile and unstable in the 10–14 age group, and gradual and slow in the 15–19 age group. Unequal participation among racial groups was also identified, with the white population presenting the highest number of births and exerting the greatest influence on the reduction observed. An increase in reports of crimes against sexual dignity and rape was also noted, although the amount of bias underlying these data renders them imprecise. It is concluded that there is a need for a comprehensive investigation of the factors involved, considering both the micro and macro environments of the municipality of Cascavel, as well as a multidisciplinary intervention team for context-based application of actions.
