Abstract

Fibrin-rich plasma (PRF) is an innovative technique widely used in orofacial harmonization (OF) due to its regenerative, biocompatible and autologous properties. Obtained from the patient's own blood, PRF is produced by centrifugation without the addition of chemical agents, resulting in a three-dimensional matrix rich in platelets, leukocytes and growth factors. These components are essential for stimulating tissue regeneration, angiogenesis and healing, providing both aesthetic and functional benefits. In OF, PRF is indicated for several purposes, such as faciais rejuvenation, wrinkle reduction, improvement of skin texture and elasticity, facial fillers and treatment of specific areas, such as dark circles, nasolabial folds and scars. In addition, it is widely used as an adjuvant in dental and regenerative procedures, such as bone and gum regeneration. It can be applied by subcutaneous or intradermal injections and, in some cases, through membranes used to cover areas to be regenerated. The process of obtaining PRF involves controlled centrifugation, which generates different formats of the material, such as liquid PRF or membranes, allowing customization according to the patient's needs. Its advantages include the absence of immunological risks, due to its autologous origin, and the sustained release of growth factors, which enhance natural regeneration and long-term results. This technique offers a safe, minimally invasive and effective alternative to HOF, promoting natural aesthetic results and faster recovery. Ongoing studies continue to explore new applications of PRF, expanding its use in various areas of regenerative medicine and consolidating its role as an indispensable tool for facial aesthetics professionals.
