Aesthetic-Functional Surgical Approach to Gingival Architecture: A Case Report
ABSTRACT
Dentogingival harmony is an essential element for smile aesthetics, and is frequently compromised by unevenness or excessive gingival exposure resulting from altered passive eruption or excessive vertical growth of the maxilla. This study aims to report the clinical management of a case of aesthetic-functional gingival correction using the flapless crown lengthening technique in a female patient treated at the Dental Clinic of the Centro Universitário da Serra Gaúcha (FSG). The flapless technique proved effective in providing less surgical trauma, periosteal preservation, and superior postoperative comfort. The integration between Periodontics and Dental Prosthetics was decisive for the success of the case, since the periodontal planning guided the subsequent prosthetic rehabilitation.
