Introduction: Epstein-Barr virus-associated gastric cancer (GCaEBV) accounts for approximately 10% of gastric carcinomas worldwide and has distinct molecular characteristics. Among these differences, the expression of viral microRNAs in gastric tissues stands out, especially BamHI-A rightward transcripts (miR-BARTs), which modulate gene regulation pathways in EBV-associated host cells. Given the complexity of miR-BART expression in the tumor context, it is necessary to understand its activity in the tumor microenvironment to assess its influence on neoplastic gastric cells. Objectives: The objective of this study is to analyze the relevance of miR-BARTs in the diagnosis and prognosis of gastric cancer associated with the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). Through the literature, highlight the expression of miR BART types in EBV infection in gastric carcinoma cells, discuss whether they have activity in the diagnosis and prognosis of gastric cancer, and whether they present a potential therapeutic target. Methodology: The method used was an integrative literature review through scientific article research. Data analysis was performed using the BARDIN method and organized using the URSI method. Results: Of the 3,662 articles in the literature, 15 were selected using previously established inclusion and exclusion criteria. Conclusion: Therefore, it is concluded that the expression of miR-BARTs can affect oncogenic pathways involved in EBV+ gastric carcinogenesis and that the use of inhibitors of these miR-BARTs indicates potential for diagnostic/prognostic use and for the development of targeted therapies.
