The mandible is the most prominent bone of the lower third of the face and is often affected during traumatic processes. Therefore, this study aimed to review the literature on the management of mandibular fractures in children, addressing the difficulties in patient management and cooperation, the best treatment approaches, and the correlation between open and closed treatment. A literature review method was used, covering articles published between 2014 and 2024, as well as literature spanning a 30-year period (1994–2024), using the PubMed search tool. The results highlight that pediatric patients present challenges due to lack of cooperation, fear, and dental anxiety, which can affect treatment and prognosis. Treatment should be individualized, considering the child’s age, type of fracture, and level of cooperation. Both conservative and surgical treatments are valid options, and the choice between open and closed treatment depends on a careful evaluation of the patient, including the etiology of the trauma, physical examination, and complementary tests.
