Abstract

Introduction: The high complexity of the anatomical structures in the skull base and ventricular region makes learning neuroendoscopy a challenge for students and residents in training. Objective: To develop an atlas based on surgical images obtained through the neuroendoscopy technique to improve the understanding of the anatomical structures in this region. Methods: Surgical images acquired from adult patients of both sexes at a university hospital by the Neurosurgery Service were selected, and each anatomical structure was outlined and labeled, forming a structured image database. The interactive atlas was created and is available at www.anatomiabrasil.com.br, allowing the incorporation of menus, interactivity, and highlighting of structures through mouse clicks or touches. Results: This is the first interactive atlas of the skull base and ventricular regions applying the neuroendoscopy surgical technique for mapping anatomical structures, enabling visualization of spatial relationships and neuroendoscopy access pathways. Conclusion: The interactive atlas provides a reference for understanding essential anatomical structures for neuroendoscopy procedures. Future studies are needed to evaluate the learning effectiveness of this newly developed tool.
