Abstract

Introduction: Hartmann’s procedure is a surgical technique widely used in cases of intestinal obstruction, perforation, or advanced sigmoid and rectal neoplasia. Despite its utility in emergencies, it presents high postoperative morbidity. Objective: To identify the most prevalent postoperative complications after Hartmann’s procedure. Methods: A systematic literature review was performed using PubMed, SciELO, and Google Scholar databases, including studies published from 2000 to 2025. Conclusion: Hartmann’s procedure is associated with high morbidity and mortality rates, highlighting the importance of early recognition and prevention of complications.
