The Adult Physiology, Senescence, and Anthropological Condition: A Medical-Historical Systematic Review of the Galilean Man of the First Century

Introduction:
Adulthood is characterized by full biological integration, with optimal functionality of major physiological systems, peak neurocognitive performance, and emotional stability. Biomedical literature indicates that the period between approximately 25 and 35 years of age marks the apex of metabolic homeostasis before progressive senescent changes occur, including telomeric shortening, mitochondrial dysfunction, and low-grade chronic inflammation. This homeostatic balance results from coordinated interactions among energy metabolism, cardiovascular and pulmonary performance, neural maturation, and immunocompetence.
Objectives:
To correlate contemporary scientific evidence about physiological stability typical of adulthood with historical and anthropological descriptions of Jesus, identified as a Galilean man from the first century CE, analyzing convergences between biomedical data and historical records on physical and cognitive functionality.
Methodology:
A medico-anthropological systematic review was performed according to PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Searches were conducted in PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar from January/2015 to July/2024. MeSH/DeCS descriptors and free terms were combined with Boolean operators. Duplicate studies, non-peer-reviewed material, and manuscripts outside scope were excluded. A total of 684 records were identified; after screening and full-text review, 35 studies met eligibility criteria. Methodological quality was appraised using the GRADE approach. Data synthesis followed a qualitative design, organized into thematic axes: adult physiology, senescence, physical/functional performance, and sociocultural context.
Conclusion:
The biomedical literature supports that the interval between 25 and 35 years represents the stage of greatest physiological stability, with mature metabolism, optimal cardiorespiratory performance, full neurocognitive development, and effective immune balance. Comparative analysis suggests convergence between this physiological profile and historical reports of the Galilean man of the first century, whose adult life occurred within this age range and was reportedly marked by physical robustness, preserved cognition, and healthy social interaction. Therefore, these findings suggest that human wholeness may be understood as a biologically measurable phenomenon integrating physiology, neuroscience, and anthropology.
