Oral mucositis (OM) is a type of chronic inflammation that affects the oral mucosa, it is commonly found in cancer patients who receive radiation therapy to the head and neck region or chemotherapy as part of their treatment. OM is a condition that directly affects the patient's quality of life, as in addition to causing severe pain, the patient also reports dysphagia. The treatment of OM with Low Power Laser Therapy (LPLT) has shown good results and is an effective alternative for its treatment, as evidenced in the present study. Laser therapy promotes modulation of the inflammatory process by accelerating local circulation, increasing lymphatic flow and reducing edema. The treatment also promotes tissue repair (accelerated cell growth), analgesia and antimicrobial reduction. The present study aims to present a Clinical Case Report that addresses the experience with the use of Low Power Laser as a treatment for oral mucositis (OM) caused by head and neck radiation therapy. From this study, it was possible to show that the use of LPLT during antineoplastic treatment in patients who develop the manifestation is effective and improves the patient's quality of life.
