Abstract
Palatal Torus is a benign bony exostosis characterized by slow and progressive growth, located along the midline of the hard palate. Although usually asymptomatic, it can cause functional impairments such as altered speech, mastication, and swallowing, and may interfere with the fit of removable dentures. Diagnosis is primarily clinical, supported by imaging to differentiate from other expansive bone lesions. This paper reports the case of a 38-year-old female patient presenting with palatal bone growth, associated with functional complaints and difficulties using a removable partial denture. Treatment involved surgical removal of the torus using a double “Y” incision and osteotomy with tapered fissure burs, followed by osteoplasty to smooth the area. Postoperative care included antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, and analgesics, along with hygiene measures and clinical follow-up. The patient showed satisfactory healing and resolution of symptoms. The literature supports that surgical removal of torus should be reserved for symptomatic cases or those with functional impact, with careful planning and postoperative management being key to therapeutic success. This case report highlights the importance of differential diagnosis and careful selection of the surgical technique to preserve tissues and ensure a favorable prognosis
