Objective: To analyze the impacts of postpartum depression (PPD) on the mother-baby bond and neonatal care, highlighting the role of nursing in early detection and support for postpartum women. Method: This is an integrative literature review conducted in the PubMed, LILACS, BDENF, and IBECS databases, using the PICo strategy. Articles published between 2019 and 2024, in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, related to nursing and PPD were included. Study selection was supported by Rayyan software. Results: PPD was related to factors such as childhood trauma, lack of social support, breastfeeding difficulties, and isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic. Depressive symptoms compromise the mother-baby bond and neonatal care. Nursing interventions, through active listening, use of screening scales such as the Edinburgh Scale, and personalized support, are essential for early diagnosis and appropriate intervention. Conclusion: Nurses play a fundamental role in the prevention and management of PPD. Investing in ongoing training and public policies focused on maternal mental health contributes to safer and more affectionate neonatal care, promoting the well-being of the mother, baby, and family.
