Abstract

Cardiac arrhythmias, defined as alterations in the normal heart rhythm, represent a significant public health issue, especially in the Southern region of Brazil, where a high prevalence and mortality rate are observed (Rios et al., 2024; Neto et al., 2024). This study aimed to identify the main risk factors associated with the occurrence of conduction disorders and arrhythmias, with an emphasis on conditions such as arterial hypertension, obesity, and sedentary lifestyle (Miranda Filho et al., 2024). Epidemiological data from DATASUS were used, as well as diagnostic tools such as electrocardiograms and ambulatory Holter monitoring, which are essential for the early detection of cardiac electrical abnormalities (Rios et al., 2024; Melo & Melo, 2023). The results showed a higher incidence of conduction disorders and arrhythmias among hypertensive and sedentary individuals, highlighting the need for interventions aimed at promoting cardiovascular health (Miranda Filho et al., 2024). It is concluded that the implementation of regional public policies, based on epidemiological data and focused on prevention and early diagnosis, is essential for reducing the burden of conduction disorders and cardiac arrhythmias in the population of Southern Brazil (Humming et al., 2024).
