A IMPORTÂNCIA DO ENFERMEIRO NO ACOMPANHAMENTO E NAS ORIENTAÇÕES DO PRÉ-NATAL NA ATENÇÃO PRIMÁRIA

Abstract

Introduction.Prenatal care emerged at the beginning of the 20th century on a global scale, arriving in Brazil in the 1920s and 1930s. At that time, the focus was mainly on women's health, aiming to reduce risks to them, without considering the relationship between the pregnant woman and the fetus. However, between the 1950s and 1960s, with the decrease in maternal mortality rates, attention began to turn to the fetus as well. Objectives: To show how prenatal care is monitored by nurses in basic health units. Methodology: A bibliographic investigation classified as an Integrative Literature Review was conducted, with an exploratory approach and descriptive nature. Results: The research provided an advantage by fostering debates and future analyses on the role of nurses in caring for women during the pregnancy-puerperal cycle. In addition, it sought to understand what the quality of the obstetric care model in primary care should be like, especially with regard to prenatal care. Conclusion: In this study, our objective was to analyze the scientific evidence that demonstrates the relevance of the nurse's role in prenatal care in Primary Health Care. We were able to confirm that the role of nurses is crucial to improving care during prenatal care.
