Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Esophageal cancer is an aggressive neoplasm with high mortality rates, the patterns of which vary according to the histological subtype in each region. Early detection and prevention are essential to improve survival. METHODOLOGY: This observational, cross-sectional, and retrospective study analyzed the profile of hospital deaths due to Malignant Esophageal Neoplasm in Brazil (2015-2024) based on data available in SIM/DATASUS, using the variables year, region, sex, age, and race/color. The collected data were tabulated in an Excel spreadsheet and analyzed descriptively. CONCLUSION: Mortality remains high, with significant regional variations, reinforcing the need for prevention, early diagnosis, and access to therapeutic treatments. Public policies should reduce socioeconomic disparities and improve epidemiological records.
