Abstract
Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the clinical outcomes of using central subcutaneous pedicle skin flaps in reconstructive procedures of the frontal region. These flaps have been proposed as a promising technique due to their ability to provide a well-vascularized, flexible, and aesthetically pleasing tissue coverage for defects in the frontal region. Methods: This retrospective study analyzed 97 patients who underwent frontal perforation using central subcutaneous pedicle skin flaps. Inclusion criteria were patients with frontal skin defects due to tumor excisions, trauma, or congenital defects. Data collected included demographic characteristics, size and location of the defects, postoperative complications, and healing time. Results: Central subcutaneous pedicle skin flaps revealed a 92% success rate, with most patients having good flap uncovering and adequate healing. Complications were minimal, with the most common being partial flap necrosis (4%) and superficial infection (2%). The average healing time was 3 weeks. Conclusion: The use of skin flaps with a central subcutaneous pedicle proved to be an effective and safe technique for the management of the facial front, offering good tissue orientation, low complication rates and high aesthetic satisfaction. This method can be considered a useful option in the arsenal of vascular reconstructive techniques.
