Abstract
The general objective is to understand the mechanisms of ASD and its relationship with the endocannabinoid system, in addition to analyzing the effects of cannabidiol in treatment. Specifically, it seeks to highlight the academic, social, and epidemiological relevance of the topic, identifying factors associated with the disorder and its therapeutic approaches. Methodology: This study, through a bibliographic and integrative review, aims to understand the pathophysiology of ASD, its relationship with the endocannabinoid system, and the therapeutic potential of CBD. Results: It is expected, in the end, to clarify the effects of cannabidiol in reducing ASD symptoms and deepen the understanding of the neurological mechanisms involved. Conclusion: The importance of in-depth studies on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) stems from its global impact, clinical diversity, and multifactorial etiology. Given the lack of a cure, it is urgent to develop more effective and accessible therapies, considering the challenges many families face in accessing treatment.
