Abstract
Introduction: The various forms of violence to which women are susceptible can have many consequences for their physical and mental integrity, and consequently, can increase the need for health care. Objective: To describe the spatial and temporal profile of cases of violence against women, by municipality in Amazonas. Methodology: Retrospective, descriptive study with a quantitative approach of public data obtained from publications of SINAN/NET and FVS/AM. Results: From January 2020 to December 2024, the statistical curve showing the number of cases of violence against women in Amazonas grew exponentially, and thus, in this period, 23,897 cases were reported, the majority of which (8,781 = 36.7%) were cases reported only in Manaus, the state capital. Subsequently, other cities, considered the most populous in the state, also reported many cases: Manacapurú 5.9%, Maués 3.1%, Parintins 2.9% and Itacoatiara 2.7%. It is worth noting that the number of cases in Manaus, Tefé and Parintins increases every year. The cities with the highest concentration of indigenous people, such as Tabatinga, São Paulo de Olivença, Tefé and Santo Antônio do Içá, alone reported 2.8% of all cases. Conclusion: Amazonian women are violated and oppressed, most of the time, due to their race, ethnicity, social class, sexual orientation, among others.
