Root Canal Preparation of Upper Canine and Premolar Teeth with Apical Periodontitis Using Sola Collors File

Abstract

This study describes the preparation of the root canal of the maxillary canine and premolar with a Solla Collors rotary file. A 29-year-old male patient with no history of systemic diseases sought private practice complaining of pain and a sensation of overgrown tooth in tooth 13. There were no symptoms in tooth 14. After anesthesia, the coronal opening and exploration of the root canal were performed. The working length was determined with an apex locator, followed by gentle irrigation with 2% chlorhexidine gel and saline solution. The canine canal was prepared with a Solla Collors rotary file 60/03 and the premolar with the same file number 35.04. The foraminal patency was achieved with a Solla Collors Glidepath file 16/02, one millimeter beyond the apical foramen. The root canal system was obturated using the single cone technique Odous de Deus FMEL #70 in tooth 13 and Odous de Deus MX #40 in tooth 14, associated with BIO-C Sealer cement. It is concluded that successful endodontic therapy is achieved when the diagnosis is correctly made, preparation with adequate modeling and hermetic obturation is performed.
