DESCRIPTION OF CHRONIC CONDITIONAL DISEASES WITH PROBABLE SEXUAL TRANSMISSION AND OTHER SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED INFECTIONS IN THE AMAZON REGION IN A RETROSPECTIVE PERIOD OF FIVE YEARS

Introduction: Chronic diseases are incurable, slowly progressive, long-lasting morbidities that affect the body's functions and, therefore, require special and constant assistance from the health system. They can be: non-communicable (NCD), such as obesity, diabetes mellitus (DIA) and systemic arterial hypertension (SAH), or transmissible (CTD), that is, those resulting from the action of invading microorganisms, such as hepatitis B and C, HIV, syphilis, among others. Objective: To describe the spatial and temporal distribution of chronic diseases with a probable mode of sexual transmission and others, in a retrospective period of five years. Methodology: Descriptive study of public data obtained from information from the FVS/AM epidemiological bulletin for the years 2020 to 2024. Results: The number of cases of chronic diseases with a probable mode of sexual transmission and other sexually transmitted infections in Amazonas has been growing every year, which is why from January 2020 to December 2024, 55,969 cases were reported in Amazonas, of which the majority (69.4%) were from Manaus alone. Among the most recurrent STIs are unspecified syphilis (26.5%), HIV (20.0%) and syphilis in pregnant women (16.4%). Even though Manaus is the city with the highest number of notifications, other municipalities also had high numbers of cases, namely: Parintins (10.6%), Manacapuru (9.2%) and Santo Antônio do Içá (5.7%). Conclusion: The increase in the number of cases of chronic diseases requires the adoption of healthier habits with greater adherence to treatments and prevention.
