PROFILE OF PREGNANT WOMEN AND TEENAGE MOTHERS IN A BASIC HEALTH UNIT IN THE WEST OF PARANÁ.

Abstract

Teenage pregnancy is recurrent in Primary Health Care, this is because the rate of pregnant teenagers in Brazil is higher than the world average. Added to the fact that the incidence rate is high, it is known that teenage pregnancy is considered a risk for both the fetus and the mother. This is why it is important to know the profile of those affected, since in order to change and implement measures that reduce this rate, it is necessary to know the factors associated with the occurrence of the condition. Therefore, this study aimed primarily to analyze the profile of teenage mothers and pregnant women in a Basic Health Unit (UBS) in western Paraná, with the intention of outlining the risk factors and characteristics most related to teenage pregnancy, in addition to analyze whether the results obtained are in accordance with the averages and indexes found in other studies. This makes it possible to identify the health needs of these girls and devise action plans for prevention and care. For this purpose, this research was carried out through a quantitative descriptive cross-sectional study, with data collection in a UBS in the municipality of Cascavel/PR through a questionnaire. At the end of the research, it was possible to conclude that the analyzed profile is similar in several aspects to the analogous population in the existing literature. However, the age group affected in the region is even younger than the expected average, which increases the risks for the mother and child and also increases recurrence rates.
