Abstract
A 43-year-old patient was referred to an Endodontic specialist for treatment of tooth 33. The radiographic examination revealed an extensive radiolucent area affecting teeth 22, 23 and 24. Tooth 23, in addition to the extensive periapical lesion, presented internal resorption in the middle-apical third, as well as an apical curvature. Clinically, the patient was asymptomatic and responded negatively to the cold pulp sensitivity test performed with refrigerant gas. After anesthesia, the coronal opening and exploration of the root canal were performed. The working length was determined, followed by gentle irrigation with 2.5% sodium hypochlorite. The canal was prepared with a Solla Collors rotary file 50/04 and foraminal patency was achieved with a Solla Collors Glidepath file 16/02 in the apical foramen. The root canal system was obturated using the HB single cone technique, associated with Bio C Sealer cement. It is concluded that the success of endodontic therapy is achieved when the diagnosis is correctly made, the canal system is cleaned with Solla Files Collors files and a hermetic obturation, as well as the definitive sealing of the coronary access.
