Abstract

This article reviews the scientific literature on the management of obstetric hemorrhages in the postpartum period, focusing on clinical challenges and advances in emergency treatment. The research was conducted in the PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases, using the terms "Obstetric hemorrhage, Postpartum, Emergency management, Treatment." The analysis reveals that postpartum hemorrhage is one of the leading causes of maternal morbidity and mortality, requiring a rapid and effective response. Early identification of causes, such as uterine atony, lacerations, and retained placenta, is crucial for the success of treatment. The therapeutic approach involves the use of uterotonic medications, hemorrhage control techniques, such as uterine compression, and surgical interventions, such as uterine artery ligation. Advances in treatment, such as the use of hemostatic devices and blood transfusion in well-defined protocols, have shown improvements in the prognosis for affected women. Proper management requires a trained multidisciplinary team and the implementation of standardized protocols.
