Abstract

Trauma is one of the leading causes of mortality among young people, requiring rapid and multidisciplinary management for stabilization and recovery. Evidence-based protocols and imaging technologies are essential for assessment and intervention. Collaboration between medical specialties and personalized treatment contributes to better clinical outcomes. Physical rehabilitation and psychological support are essential for reintegrating patients into daily life, minimizing physical and emotional sequelae. Scielo and PubMed were used as search engines for article selection through the keywords “Emergency Medical Services, Multiple Trauma, Critical Care.” It is concluded that managing polytraumatized patients is essential to reducing mortality in severe trauma cases. Protocols like ATLS organize evaluation into primary and secondary surveys. In the primary survey, the XABCDE protocol is used to stabilize the airway, breathing, and circulation, as well as assess neurological status and exposure to injuries. The secondary survey identifies additional injuries. A multidisciplinary approach, rapid surgical interventions, and early rehabilitation are essential to improving clinical outcomes and ensuring efficient functional recovery.
