Abstract

This article reviews the scientific literature on the management of Rett Syndrome in psychiatric crises and medical emergencies, focusing on the challenges faced during multidisciplinary care. The research, conducted in the PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases using the terms "Rett Syndrome, Psychiatric Crises, Medical Emergencies, Multidisciplinary Care," reveals that patients with Rett Syndrome often develop psychiatric symptoms such as anxiety crises, behavioral disorders, depression, and self-harm. These symptoms can be either pre-existing or exacerbated by emergency situations, complicating immediate treatment and post-treatment recovery. The therapeutic approach for these patients requires an integrated and coordinated strategy, involving multidisciplinary teams of psychiatrists, neurologists, psychologists, occupational therapists, and emergency professionals. Management of psychiatric crises must be adapted to consider the emotional impact and psychiatric conditions, with an emphasis on minimizing emotional distress and treating psychiatric comorbidities. Interventions such as continuous psychological support, the use of psychotropic medications, and constant monitoring of mental state are essential to ensure successful recovery.
