Esthetic approach to restorations in worn anterior teeth

Abstract

With the evolution of adhesive dentistry, the possibilities of esthetic procedures have expanded significantly with the development and improvement of resin composites, which offer adequate mechanical and optical properties, allowing greater mimicry of the natural tooth structure. As an example of these procedures, the restoration of fractures or dental wear has been frequently sought by patients seeking functional and esthetic improvements. Therefore, the objective of this study was to report a clinical case of resin composite restorations of the mesial incisal angles of teeth 11 and 21. Clinical conduct: A female patient sought care reporting dissatisfaction due to wear of the incisal edges of teeth 11 and 21. The procedures were performed using rubber dam, followed by prophylaxis, acid etching, and application of the adhesive system. The restoration was performed using the incremental technique, starting with the palatal surface with enamel resin in color A1, an opaque white resin was inserted on the incisal edge, covered by another layer of enamel resin on the vestibular surface. The procedure met the patient's expectations, successfully restoring the esthetics of her smile. It is concluded that the choice of restorative technique should take into account the clinical and radiographic evaluation and the patient's main complaint, correlating the techniques and materials available.
