Multidisciplinary approach in the rehabilitation of post-stroke patients: integrated strategies for functional, cognitive and emotional recovery

Abstract

Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide, with a high social and economic impact, especially in developing countries. In Brazil, regional and social differences aggravate the problem, and rehabilitation requires an interdisciplinary approach to minimize sequelae and promote autonomy. This study analyzes integrated strategies in post-stroke rehabilitation, emphasizing the importance of multidisciplinary actions and public policies to improve access to treatment and patients’ quality of life. This study is a qualitative review that analyzes the effectiveness of multidisciplinary approaches in post-stroke rehabilitation, focusing on functional, cognitive, and emotional aspects. The research used a systematic strategy to select articles published in the last 20 years, prioritizing studies that discussed therapeutic interventions and integrated strategies. After screening and thematic analysis, the results showed that a multidisciplinary approach is essential in post-stroke rehabilitation, promoting functional, cognitive, and emotional recovery. Despite advances, challenges such as referral failures and inequalities in access to services reinforce the need for professional training and inclusive policies. Technologies and emotional support are also fundamental for the social reintegration and quality of life of patients.
