Abstract

Introduction: The emergence of vaccines was essential to contain the Covid-19 pandemic, however, side effects arose with them, including reactive arthritis. Objective: To detail the characteristics of ReA associated with vaccination against Covid-19. Methodology: This is an integrative review, with data from PubMed, using the descriptors COVID-19 Vaccines AND Arthritis, Reactive, without language and period restrictions. Discussion: Post-vaccination reactive arthritis against SARS-CoV-2 can appear after the use of any type of vaccine. It is not associated with HLA-B27. It was present in the age group from 17 to 90 years old, in most cases the symptoms started between 2 and 21 days after the first dose of the vaccine. The most affected joints are the ankle, knee, and hand joints. Treatment includes the administration of corticosteroids and/or NSAIDs orally or parenterally. Conclusion: The relationship between the vaccine and reactive arthritis is undeniable, and scientific productions that address this relationship are necessary. It is of great importance that healthcare professionals are aware of and able to guide and treat reactive arthritis related to the Covid-19 vaccine.
