Abstract
This article reviews innovations in the surgical treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), focusing on the comparison between conventional techniques, such as laparoscopic fundoplication, and robotic techniques. Articles were selected from PubMed, Scopus, and Embase databases using the terms gastroesophageal reflux disease, surgical treatment e techniques. The review includes recent studies assessing the efficacy, safety, and economic impact of these approaches. The findings indicate that robotic techniques provide greater surgical precision and lower postoperative complication rates, while laparoscopic techniques remain widely used due to their proven efficacy and cost-effectiveness. Additionally, endoscopic therapies are emerging as promising alternatives for less severe cases. The conclusion emphasizes that the choice of the ideal technique should consider factors such as disease severity, patient clinical conditions, and resource availability, highlighting the need for personalized management of GERD.
